Tomorrow our first practice as a whole takes place and a followup will be posted. In a manner of weeks we will have our group and individual pictures posted. In a few months (or whenever) our first concert will be the Battle of the Bands at Clearfield High School. More on that as it develops.

    “SISTER” UPDATE

As those of you roadies and groupies of The Professors and hardly anybody else know: We’re not making much progress in our music as of late.

A little tiny bit of that changes today: I have finished blocking/timing/setting up rhythm and pace etc. for Maybe I Should Try Your Sister- This new blocking includes the love-ballady stuff, the hard rock stuff, and quite possibly Dylan’s Pink Floydian stuff as well. (That or my own fantastic solo.) I’ve successfully replaced the retarded lyric “—to visit me in the hospital when I got shot” to “to pay me back for all those things you bought *for you*” And the song just makes so much more sense as a whole now.

    —updated acoustic-guitar video soon.

    Microsoft One Note

Is NOT a recording program, but it’s something else that will totally help my music SO MUCH.

As you may/may not know: One Note is a virtual binder of sorts, with different tabbed secitons and pages in each tab. This is useful to college students taking notes for class and for business people in charge of something important. It’s also useful for people like me who have folders FULL of guitar tabs that they need saved.

My friends. I just realized that I can take every tab I’ve ever saved and put it in one nifty little notebook where I can come back to it at any time and print a new copy off and never have to worry about looking for it again.

So today I start my next project: putting a bunch of tabs in the notebook, picking the ones I like most, and making a CD with the same songs on it so I can learn to play along just like the musicians. This is going to be sweet when I’m done with it.

Just reblog if you want a copy of the final file too. (If you have One Note that is)

    as always, Stay Beautiful
    —Didymus

    “your sister” update:

Tomorrow it will officially be the first song The Professors have completed as a band. I say this because I’ve finally today figured out all of the spacing and timing and chords. All I need now are the bodies to play the other instruments so that we can make it sound like music. This is exciting news because it is the only song I meant to write when I started this whole thing about a month ago. I’m very excited for this and I hope you all (especially Dylan, Raymond, and Matt) are as entheusiastic as I am. Let’s ROCK!

    LIFES TOO SHORT (lyrics)

Theres something called talent, I aint got a lot
But life’s too short to worry about haves and have nots
I’d much rather care about the simple things
Like music, and they joy it brings

So I sit and listen to my favorite song
and laugh at myself when I get the words wrong
wondering if I’ll ever figure it out
life’s too short for this mucking about

Second verse I don’t know what to say
talk about the things that I have done today?
I need inspiration on what to sing
So take me, under your wing

While I sit and listen to my favorite song
and laugh at myself when I get the words wrong
wondering if I’ll ever figure it out
life’s too short for this mucking about

So now I’m back and I’ve got no clue
what it is that I need to say to you
I guess that it’s just love one another
    love everyone, like your brother

and sit and listen to your favorite song
and laugh at yourself when you get the words wrong
I hope that you can all figure it out
‘cause life’s too short for this mucking about

    EMPTY HANDED (lyrics)

For the song “Empty Handed” by my band, The Professors:

    1). There was a time,
    and a place
    Full of hope for the
    human race

    But time moves forward
    and moves on
because of that we try to
    right the wrongs

Today doesn’t care what you bring on,
it’s all about the coming dawn,

so join with me and we’ll
    go away
    get ourselves out of this
    wretched place

    (chorus)

2). I’m at your will for
    your instruction
    Gotta get away from
    this destruction

    So now we’re running
    and I fly
    Leaving this world I
    have to say goodbye

The sky calls to me and I make my way
“Don’t ever forget me” I heard you say

    Now that I’m going
    So hard to leave
I need you to wait for
    me and believe

    (chorus)

chorus). I went to the ends of the earth, just for your love.
And I spread my wings, like the wings of a dove.
But then I came home to my nest and landed.
Then I came home, EMPTY HANDED!

    In Search of Recording Software

Any suggestions? Right now I’m looking up/installing a bunch of open source recording tools to see if they will do the job but if I’m going to spend money what do you think I should get?

I’m considering the following as it stands:

    • Adobe Audition 2.0 (used in multimedia if you guys remember)
    • Cakewalk (my brother uses it)
    • Garage Band (my other brother uses macs)

I’m open to your suggestions because I need something to lay down the music with and still have it sound halfway decent.

    Much appreciated—

    -regarding my choice of music

As you can tell by now, my music varies a lot. This is because of how varied I am. Every song I post is just as random as the next but they’re all important to me. I hope you guys take the time to listen to some things you wouldn’t normally and get a chance to experience something different.

I’m done posting songs today. Maybe I’ll prepare a little lesson in some kind of instrument or a music theory lecture for you guys next time I post on here.

Just for you faithful (though recent) followers I have an update in the lyrics to “Maybe I should Try Your Sister” It’s as follows:

Things wouldn’t work out with your mom,
When I take her home she tries to make me clean my-
    room, So I’d end up leaving her a-loooo-one. {alone}

It would be even worse oh if I had,
Tried to hook up with your dad,
    Like you did to mine so long a-go-o-o-oo {ago}

I don’t get how they managed to,
Make someone your sister and then make-
    you, I think that they should have stoped right theee-ere {there}

Maybe I’d have met her earlier,
And not had to deal with all of your-
    Daily morning pre-makeup scaaaaares {scares}

So now I wanna try your (chorus)

And that’s it so far, so until we meet again, be excellent to each other.. and… PARTY ON DUDES!
